Incubation progress

We are eight days in to the incubation and I candles all the eggs yesterday. I got about eleven I wasn't sure of so I marked the definitely good with a check mark and left the others. Today I rechecked the uncertain ones with my special candling apparatus.
The flashlight and toilet paper tube are the specialized apparatus. The duct tape is merely interesting background. I decided those eleven questionable eggs were not developing and broke all but three into a container so I could see if I was right. Five or six had no signs of fertility at all and three had some little bits of developing chicks in them. So I left the last three and out them back in the incubator just in case. These were ones with darker and more speckled shells which makes it more difficult to see what's going on inside the egg.
So here is the inside of the incubator now.

Paddling races

My son was helping out at the two day paddling race going this weekend.
He got to help the starter with the flags.
Today was all small boats. Outriggers, surf skis and stand up paddle boards.
The last race of the day was a long one. Eleven kilometres with a mass start.
A great day for it.

Deck stuff

We had burgers and wine on our friends deck last night.
And this is clever storage of deck dining seats that I saw today.
Feels like summer out there!

Homemade incubator Day 1

My daughter wants to try hatching some eggs this year. So we have a homemade incubator and this is day one.
We thought we were getting 12 fertile eggs but we ended up with 27 so the incubator had to get made bigger at the last minute.
I hope some of them hatch.
